Medway Volunteer Workshop was formed in 2019 and has grown ever since. We moved to larger premises at Elm Court Village, Gillingham, Kent in 2025.
Volunteers refurbish donated tools and sewing machines. These are sent to Africa, via Tools with a Mission, to equip newly trained craftspeople, allowing them to use their new skill to create a living for themselves and their families. Practical support to encourage self-help, rather than just money.
Tools and sewing machines, unwanted in the UK, are given a new life-changing purpose by our volunteers. Sustainability at its best.
Our volunteers give their time - from a morning a week upwards - to help those in need, while enjoying each other's company. We are always looking for volunteer refurbishers (usually retired tradespeople), driver/collectors, sorters, fundraisers and administrators.
Medway Volunteer Workshop is an independent self-funding charity. Everyone involved is a volunteer - no one is paid - so every penny we raise goes towards running costs such as rent; donations are always appreciated.
